There’s a new cat in residence at The Cat & The Moon, and she has excellent taste.
After almost four decades of campaigning by the local cat community, we’re delighted to introduce Oíche, our newest feline recruit and self-appointed supervisor of all things stylish.
Oíche has arrived with plenty of personality, a keen eye for beautiful things and absolutely no intention of doing anything that doesn’t suit her. She’s already settling into her new surroundings, bringing a little feline flair to the shop and making herself quite at home.
Naturally, she has very strong opinions about what makes a good gift, what belongs in a cosy home and which sunny spots are best for an afternoon nap.
Meet Our Resident Tastemaker
Oíche may be new to the team, but she’s already been busy inspecting our shelves and getting to know the wonderful makers and designers whose work fills The Cat & The Moon.
From handcrafted Irish gifts and beautiful home accessories to jewellery by Martina Hamilton, she has plenty to keep her curious paws occupied.
Her taste is impeccable, of course. Her work ethic, on the other hand, remains under review.
We suspect there will be plenty of naps, the occasional bit of mischief and perhaps a little interference with the day-to-day running of the shop. We wouldn’t have it any other way.
Oíche's First Favourites
Every good cat knows that a home should be filled with interesting things, comfortable places to curl up and the occasional object that looks suspiciously like a toy.
Oíche has already developed a few favourites, from Artwood’s handcrafted wooden suncatchers to the wonderfully cosy Yoko wool slippers. She’s also rather taken with Martina Hamilton’s Carrowmore collection, although she insists the clean lines remind her of her claws.
And, with Halloween approaching, the handmade felt bats by Tamzen Lundy have certainly caught her attention. They’re wonderfully playful, full of character and, according to Oíche, much less trouble than the real thing.
Come And Say Hello
Oíche is settling into life at The Cat & The Moon, and we have a feeling she’ll be keeping us on our toes.
Whether you’re visiting to find a special gift, discover the work of Irish makers or simply explore our latest arrivals, there’s always something lovely to find in store.
And who knows? You might even hear a little purring from the sidelines.
Welcome to the team, Oíche. We’re delighted to have you.
Whiskers and kisses,
The Cat & The Moon team
