This ceramic blue tit is created by Julian Smith of Kinsale. Handcrafted using the 16th-century Raku technique, originating in Japan.
Each piece is rapidly fired and then removed from the kiln while glowing red hot, creating the distinctive crackle effect. Stunning, one-of-a-kind colours develop when the piece is placed in a container with combustible materials, completing the Raku firing process.
This larger owl measures 5cm x 11cm and can be hung on a wall, making it a striking statement piece for your home.
Due to the nature of the Raku firing process, colours and finishes may vary slightly from those shown, making every piece truly unique.
