Sliogán in Irish translates as shell. Croí­ is the shells heart-core. Sligo is the Shelly Place. It was the beloved landscape of poet W B Yeats, who on the grey pavements of London spoke of Sligo as "the deep hearts core", án Croí­ Sliogán; our shell motif in hallmarked 9 carat gold and the secret heart-shape it encircles.

About the Artist

Jewellery designer, artist and founder of The Cat & The Moon, Martina Hamilton has been creating award-winning collections from her Sligo studio for over thirty years. Her work is inspired by the wild beauty of Ireland’s northwest coast—shaped by light, landscape and a deep sense of place.
