Sliogán in Irish translates as shell. Croí­ is the Heart. Croí­ Sliogán so, is the shells heart-core.

Sligo, where Martina has lived all her life is the Shelly Place. It was the beloved landscape of poet W B Yeats who, on the grey pavements of London spoke of Sligo as "the deep hearts core" in his iconic work The Lake Isle of Innisfree.

This is the inspiration for our Croí­ Sliogán collection.

And the secret of this shell motif in hallmarked sterling silver? It is the form of a heart the silver shell encircles.

About the Artist

Jewellery designer, artist and founder of The Cat & The Moon, Martina Hamilton has been creating award-winning collections from her Sligo studio for over thirty years. Her work is inspired by the wild beauty of Ireland’s northwest coast—shaped by light, landscape and a deep sense of place.
