About the Artist

Séamus Gill is long recognised as one of Ireland's leading and most influential silversmiths.

All his work is about the joy of responding directly to the material, using hammer and anvil to transform a flat sheets of silver and gold, deploying traditional age-old skills of the silversmith to create his stunning forms. He masterfully exploits the working qualities of precious metal, stretching and compressing it, persuading it into the elegant three dimensional forms he has become synonymous with and renowned for.
