About the Artist

When a Belgian father and Irish mother moved to the remote and beautiful Glegcree Valley in the Wicklow mountains in the 70’s, they brought with them with them classic Flemish aesthetics. With her sibblings, growing up in the wilds of Glencree, this love of design and adventure was passed on to Orla Van den Berg. When Orla arrived back from New York in 1996, she started her pioneering candle-making business.

Renamed Max Benjamin after her twin boys, Max and Ben, the company's founding philosophy is to uplift everyday lives through the power of evocative scent. They have remained true to that philosophy and Max Benjamin has grown into one of Ireland's leading makers of handmade home fragrance products globally.
