Moon Shell collection. Petite sterling silver stud earrings with 22ct gold plating.

A moon, worn as if it had been a shell
Washed by times waters as they rose and fell
About the stars and broke in days and years
. - W B Yeats,

These gorgeous eye-catching petite stud earrings are inspired by random shells on a north-Sligo shore.

'Often when you flip a shell over you notice how different areas of it were once shaded or coloured differently by the creature that occupied it, perhaps by differing minerals it used as it matured and moved along the coast through its life. You can see the phases of its life, and then how that has been polished and honed by sea and sand. I've tried to emulate that with this collection. But the collection also draws upon some of the stunning photographs beamed back to earth by the Cassini mission to Saturn which shows some of the planets moons transiting the face of the great planet.'

Contra-domed discs of silver are given a beautiful rich burnish and texture before the centre is hand plated with warm fiery 22 carat gold detail.

1.2 cm H earrings in hallmarked sterling silver. 22 carat gold hand plated centre, .

About the Artist

Jewellery designer, artist and founder of The Cat & The Moon, Martina Hamilton has been creating award-winning collections from her Sligo studio for over thirty years. Her work is inspired by the wild beauty of Ireland’s northwest coast—shaped by light, landscape and a deep sense of place.

Every design begins with her connection to the landscape. The movement of the tide, the texture of stone, the shifting light—all find quiet expression in her jewellery, handcrafted in precious metals and made to be worn, cherished and passed on.
