9 carat gold with Cultured Pearl

This pendant by Martina Hamilton represents a fusion between the delicate detail of structures that occur in nature, and the skill and attention to detail of a designer.

The pendant was inspired by a random worn fragment of scallop shell picked up from a rock pool near Streedagh in County Sligo, along Ireland's Wild Atlantic Way.

Martina has used the natural rigid fluting of the shell, weathered down to gentle undulations, as a means to catch and re-emit light, giving these earring a delicate yet radiant iridescence.

About the Artist

Jewellery designer, artist and founder of The Cat & The Moon, Martina Hamilton has been creating award-winning collections from her Sligo studio for over thirty years. Her work is inspired by the wild beauty of Ireland’s northwest coast—shaped by light, landscape and a deep sense of place.
