Hallmarked gold and silver double Star Flower floral pendant on sterling silver 2 bell chain by Martina Hamilton

Star of Bethlehem, nap-at-noon, summer snowflake, sleepy dick, eleven-o'clock lady, grass lily, all popular folk names for a beautiful five pointed white flower. Popular legend speaks of fragments of the Christmas Star of Bethlehem falling to earth and taking root.

While the star flower is well known for its tendency to open for the midday sun - and also to close if the day suddenly grows cloudy or dark - the petals of these two stunning flowers, created in hallmarked sterling silver and gold will always be open, gathering light and charming the eye with their lustre and scintillation.

The Star Flower double pendant by Martina Hamilton, steeped in folk tradition, carries narrative resonance for enduring friendship, for the togetherness of sisters, for mothers and daughters, and the abiding closeness of lovers.

2.2cm Hallmarked Sterling Silver Flower width + 1.7cm 9 carat Hallmarked Solid Gold Flower. 46cm sterling silver 2 bell chain.

About the Artist

Jewellery designer, artist and founder of The Cat & The Moon, Martina Hamilton has been creating award-winning collections from her Sligo studio for over thirty years. Her work is inspired by the wild beauty of Ireland’s northwest coast—shaped by light, landscape and a deep sense of place.

Every design begins with her connection to the landscape. The movement of the tide, the texture of stone, the shifting light—all find quiet expression in her jewellery, handcrafted in precious metals and made to be worn, cherished and passed on.
