Handcrafted modern Irish jewellery from Kieran Cunningham in County Wicklow. Created from raw materials using age old traditional Celtic jewellery designs handed down through the generations.

This uniquely eye catching piece by Kieran Cunningham combines the truly ancient with the ultra contemporary. The spiral motif, over 5000 years old is found carved onto foundation stones at Newgrange. Kieran uses traditional jewellery making crafts handed down over generations to create a uniquely contemporary piece.

Forged in Copper. 4 cm Diameter. Lacquered to prevent tarnishing. 

About the Artist

Kieran Cunningham has worked in metal design since 1977 and is a true pioneer of iconic contemporary Celtic jewellery. Kieran has developed his strikingly unique range of handcrafted, modern Irish jewellery using techniques and tooling styles dating back to Irelands earliest known craft traditions.

"I use only a select range of hand-tools to create each piece so that you have a piece of jewellery to be proud of. The hand-chiseled scroll effects and shining hammered finishes are an age-old tradition of Celtic jewellery design. This has been passed down through the centuries. However now these skills are almost a thing of the past. Because of this I like to try to keep these traditions alive."

Each piece Kieran creates is original in design and individually handcrafted from raw materials including sterling silver, yellow gold, brass, copper and alpaca silver.
